A National Historic Landmark, Ryman Auditorium was built as a tabernacle by Captain Thomas G. Ryman in 1892, served as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943-74 and was completely renovated in 1994. The Ryman is open for tours during the day and at night offers a wide variety of entertainment performances, just as it has for over 125 years. The venue was voted the 2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Pollstar Theatre of the Year and recently took home its sixth consecutive CMA Venue of the Year Award. Ryman Auditorium is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. (NYSE: RHP), a Nashville-based REIT that also owns and operates the Grand Ole Opry, Ole Red and 650 AM WSM.

I went to see an act, to remain nameless as we greatly enjoyed the act, but I'm rating the venue. It may be the mother church of country music but it sucks as a venue to see an act there today. We we… Full review by billmN5292MM

No matter what you are seeing, the Grand Ole Opry show that moves to the Ryman during the year, or a group or artist, it is a long night. Seeing an artist or group usually involves an opening act, which they usually do not tell you about, which I wish they did. That way if you don’t want to see it you can save yourself 1-1/2 hours plus of seeing that and the time it takes to prepare for the act you actually want to see. We have been in there 3-4 hours seeing a show such as the Mavericks recently. The pews are brutal to sit on that long. Of course you can get up and walk around or get a drink, but it’s still a long night. The Radio broadcast Grand Ole Opry show is 3 hours I believe.
Q:
Can I get drop off and pick up for an 8pm performance via taxi, etc??
A:
Certainly, it is right in downtown. I'm sure taxi is very accessible
